The wall is finished

I finally finished all 23 panels for the wall project.

And it has been installed!

A big thank you to the clients because it was such a pleasure to do a commissioned work for them.

And a special hats off to Scott, who masterminded putting the works onto the wall in dead straight lines (only utilising one lump of blu tak),

and a big hug and thank you to Terase who was such a pleasure to collaborate with. All in all it was a really enjoyable project, and so exciting to see it up on the wall. And, it has to be said, David and I are really enjoying the extra real estate in our lounge room now that the plaques have gone!

Here are a few photos taken over the last few weeks

Planning what happens on each panel.

Paper templates to make sure it was all going to plan (and scale)

Panels with background layers finished and the final stage just underway

Laid out to dry

Up on the wall.

how exciting! and it looks incredible up on the wall too. did you print each panel or hand paint them (or other)? you must be very happy that it worked out so well.

Thanks Mizu. I think I'm mainly happy (and relieved) that they are happy with it (well they said they were). But it was really fun to do it. They are painted.

have just seen this in situ and have to say that the photos really don't do it justice. the subtle tones of colour and the wonderful texture of the wood, including some rough edges, a scratch or two and other marks and indents can only be appreciated up close. the fact that this beautiful artwork sits in an awkward space where you can never stand back and get a complete view of the entire work means you are forced to look at it in sections and from different angles and it's just extraordinary viewing it like this because you get a multitude of different "looks".
my sister and brother-in-law are absolutely smitten with the work, as sis says the more she looks at it the more she loves it. she loves the pod shapes and how the whole piece is so subtle and modern and just so suits the space.

beautiful work. as ever.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments ck, and also for the extra feedback on how the work is sitting in it's new home a week later. I'm so happy that they like it.

i especially like how you showed us the work in progress. i think people are always curious to see the stages and growth of art like this. thanks so much for sharing it with us!

Thanks so much gigi!
The house isn't at the beach, but it's only a short drive away.
